One thing I have found is as a single college student, buying food for one person can be a challenge. I’m always hesitant in the grocery store, because I don’t want to spend a ton on food, then let it go to waste if I don’t eat it before it goes bad.
It is way easier to change your grocery store trips to fall every two weeks. When you buy food for two weeks instead of weekly or monthly, then you get a chance to buy the right amount while spending a minimal amount.
Some helpful hints:
Split your cart into things you can eat fresh, but also grab some items that last longer. This could mean grabbing fresh meat, veggies, and fruits; and also some frozen food, canned goods, and resealable snacks. Doing this can help with giving you the option to cook meals, or a quick bite when you’re on the go.
Remember, you don’t have to spend all of your grocery budget at one time! Look for sales and Manager’s Specials at the store to make sure you’re getting the best out of your trip!
